CUPERTINO, CA – March 25, 2005 – The Iranian
Federated Women’s Club (IFWC) today announced that
it is hosting its 2005 IFWC Youth Scholarship Fundraising
Gala on April 17th, 2005 at the Palo Alto Elks Lodge.
“
This is our Seventh Annual Scholarship Fundraising, each
year we have raised more money than the previous year.
Last year we were able to provide scholarship to 19 students
for the total value of $134,000” said IFWC President
Ms. Fariba Nejat. She added: “ This year our keynote
speaker will be Professor Karimi Hakkak the Founding
Director of the Persian Studies at University of Maryland.
We are also please to have Ms. Homa Sarshar as the Mistress
of Ceremonies of our scholarship fundraising event ”
IFWC Youth Scholarship Fund provides up to $10,000 scholarship
to undergraduate Iranian-American Students studying or
entering a 4 year college in the United State.
Fariba Nejat, president of the IFWC said “During
the past years we have awarded 54 scholarships to 35
students and since IFWC is a non-profit 501C-3 registered
organization and our scholarship programs are run by
volunteers and has no paid employee 100% of donation
received for the Youth Scholarship Fund goes toward scholarship
to Iranian-American students.” She added “any
one interested in donating to this fund is welcome to
visit our web site at www.payvand.org/scholarships and
make a donation on line or send their checks to IFWC
at address given below. Students can download the application
for scholarship at the same site”.
This year IFWC Youth Scholarship Fund is holding it’s
fundraising on April 17th 2005 starting at 4.30 PM in
the Palo Alto Elks Lodge, 4249 El Camino Real, Palo Alto,
CA 94306. Tickets are $200.00 per person. Three levels
of sponsorship are available. Each of these sponsorship
levels will receive a plaque and pre determine number
of tickets to the 2005 gala. These sponsorship levels
are: Platinum Sponsor for $10,000 reserves a table for
10. Gold Sponsor for $5,000 reserves a table for 8. Silver
Sponsor for $2500 and receive 4 tickets.
About IFWC and IFWC Youth Scholarship Fund
The Iranian Federated Women's Club is a local non-profit
service
organization that promotes and introduces the Iranian
Community to the Bay
Area in general. Our local charitable endeavors include
scholarships, and
projects such as Publishing books, Braille books for
the blind, service to the
elderly, children, youth, poetry, Payvand Magazine
TV Program, and El
Camino Real Bell project of California. The Iranian
Federated Women's
Club Adopted Payvand which is an Iranian Cultural School
which also
fosters an interest in Iranian culture by teaching
Iranian heritage, traditions
and language.
The
Iranian Youth Scholarship Fund was formed in March 2000
by a generous donation from a successful Iranian
entrepreneur. This fund helps
Iranian youth who are accepted into undergraduate
program of a four-year
college in the United State and are in need of financial
assistance. These
students must maintain a certain grade point average
to receive up to
$10,000.00 per year.
