THE WORKS OF Noreen MOtamed
Noreen is a young Persian artist with a masters degree in Art.
She writes:
"For a long while the thought of Hand Weavers of Gelim and Persian Rug had been occupying my mind. The hand weavers are the people who put in the most amount of effort in producing their creation while they take home the least amou nt of profit. When a rug is sold neither the seller nor the buyer would ever know who had made that rug. The weaver always stays unknown.
Hence I decided to dedicate the main theme of my paintings to these hard working hand weavers. In my paintings, to create a Gelim or a Carpet the weavers get dissolved in the patterns they are weaving.
The next series of my paintings in this collection are based on the textile workers of the Seljuk Persian Dynasty (11-12 century A.D.) and the Safavid Persian Dynasty (16-17 century A.D.) periods. I have combined and dissolved the textile workers and their equipment in to the patterns they are producing. "
