About the Author
Afshin Dastafshan is a senior contributor and football correspondent for PersianMirror from Edinburgh, Scotland. Born in Tehran in 1964, he left Iran at the age of 15 to study in the UK. A graduate in computer studies, he has been a keen chess and football player from a very young age and has followed Iran Football throughout the years from Iran’s narrow miss on appearing in Germany 1974 world cup to Iran’s qualification to Germany 2006.
