Congratulations to Shiva Rose, who has won the award for Best Breakthrough Performance Award for her performance in Jay Jonroy's David & Layla at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. The 21st Annual event was held from October 16 – November 14 and opened with the Florida Premiere Pedro Almodovar's VOLVER. Shiva was awarded with the honor on November 11th during the FLIFF Uncorked! at Hollywood Westin Diplomat Resort.

Here is Shiva's bio:
Shiva’s credits include the 20th Century Fox feature The First 20 Million, directed by Mick Jackson and HBO’s original film *61 directed by Billy Crystal. Shiva also starred in the independent film Black Days with her most recent feature being Jonroy's “David and Layla”. In this star role, Shiva portrays Kurdish refugee Layla who has fallen for David in a classic romantic conflict story.
Shiva has also appeared in the features Myron’s Movie, Red Roses and Petrol and Silent Madness-Hollywood Babylon in which Shiva plays the legendary silent screen star ‘Louise Brooks’. She completed the short film Dysenchanted, playing the role of ‘Snow White’. Her television credits include “The Division”, “Gideon’s Crossing” and ABC's “The Practice”. Most recently she appears in the hit T.V. show CSI Miami as the reoccurring character Sonya.

Shiva is quite passionate about the theater and has appeared on stage in numerous productions. She is very active with numerous charities such as V-Day, created to end violence against women. She also created a program called Resource that fed the homeless, which she launched while attending college at UCLA. She is a sponsor for VIP, which helps abused children and volunteers at CCFA (Caring For Children With AIDS). Recently she was asked to be a spokesperson for Amnesty International’s Refugee Program. Shiva is the daughter of Iranian legend Parviz Gharibafshar.
Shiva resides in Los Angeles with her husband Dylan McDermott and their daughters Colette and Charlotte Layla.
