The World Academy of Arts, Literature, and Media - WAALM supports, develops, and promotes the dramatic and fine arts, creative writing and poetry, as well as professional journalism and media productions. WAALM regularly identifies and rewards excellence, inspires practitioners, and benefits the public, by means of awarding events.

As a nonprofit, independent and secular organisation, WAALM stands for Cultural Diplomacy, it promotes Cross-cultural activities, conferences and Humanitarian efforts.

The first WAALM Awards was conducted in Budapest on October 29, 2005 through which 25 Artists and Scholars were honored. The 2nd awarding ceremony took place on 27 October 2006 with participants from 15 different nationalities and 25 awardees were honored. The 3rd WAALM Awards was contacted in London, England on 31 Oct 2008 with participation of 11 nationalities, several high-level officials and diplomats.

WAALM confers the mystic Persian Golden Lioness Award statuettes or Diploma and Medal of Excellence to extraordinary individuals from all over the world, as a mark of their efforts, and a celebration of their successes.

- Prof. David Stronach: For his outstanding contribution in field of Persian Archeological Studies.

- Ms. Homa Sabet Tavangar: Author, for her outstanding publication of 'Growing Up Global'

 

Category of Dramatic Arts

 

- Ardavan Mofid: Stage Actor/Director for best Portray of Shahnameh 'The Book of Kings'

- Necar Zadegan: Best Actress of the year.

- Navid Negahban: Best Actor of the year.

 

Category of Music:

 

- Erwin Khachikian: Singer/Songwriter/Producer. or his outstanding music production 'Karmandan' Projects

- Homayra Amir-Afshari: Lifetime Achievement in Persian classic and Pop

 

Category of  Media:

 

- Dr Amir Sabouri: Producer, for his outstanding Persian Music documentary Series for TV

- Behnood Mokri: Anchor/ Host/Producer, for his outstanding presentation of The Late Edition – VOA TV
