> > IRANIAN MOVIES ON NETFLIX BY ANONY MOUSE

Iranian movies?  I love them and believe it brings you a bit closer to home with a little more understanding each time I see a movie.  Granted censors in Iran don’t allow all that can be said in a movie but filmmakers in Iran have managed to get their message across by passing censors in a variety of movies.  In fact getting passed censors is an art all by itself.

I’ve come to know that Netflix offers a lot of Iranian movies and you can start a plan around $5 a month for one movie at a time.  It means once you watch a movie and return it, they’ll send you another movie, so technically you can see about 3 or 4 movies a month for $5.  Or you can upgrade your membership and have 2 or 3 or more movies at a time.

I think this is a good, easy and affordable way to watch Iranian movies.  These movies are filed under Foreign genre and they come with subtitles.  So they are good for the entire family even our young generation who may not speak or understand Farsi that well.  In fact, watching these movies is a good way to learn Farsi.

Personally I like all of these movies.  Most Iranian movies are dramas and the subject matter is sad and they often focus on a social problem in Iran.  However, some are comedy and you can read a short summary of each movie before you select it.

I’ve found that Iranian comedies are liked by most Iranians of all walks and since it is a comedy that we don’t often see in America it is something new and therefore funnier.  Even in the dramas there are always unintended punch lines which makes us laugh, like in Two Women when the bad guy stalks Niki Karimi and when she refuses him over and over again he finally gets the courage to get closer to her and tell her “mikhamet” (I want you) thinking it is oh so romantic!

So grab an Iranian movie, start with a comedy, gather family and friends and have a good time.  In the process you’ll encourage Netflix to add more Iranian movies to their collection.
