I just received an email that Iranian singer, songwriter Mitra Rahbar will be performing with Sheryl Crow. This news made me very excited and teary eyed. I had first seen Mitra 10 years ago at a quaint church in the San Fernando Valley. She was beautiful, simple and mesmerizing. Later on when I introduced myself to her, she was gracious and kind. Since than, I have been a big fan and supporter of her musical and humanitarian works. Her voice, and songs have always been unique and beautiful. Today, this news was no surprise to me.
I love Sheryl Crow and what she has always stood for. Now, in one night two of my favorite women and women singers will be performing side by side, singing a song for Peace. Anyone who knows Mitra knows the bulk of her work has been peace and human rights advocacy. I am now thrilled that the nation will hear her.
Congratulations Mitra Jan, you make us proud!
