More than 20,000 people from Bam in Kerman came gradually out of their homes tp gather in front of the historical citadel of Bam. The first people started at 5:28 to paint on the white cotton canvas which ran 1 meter wide and 5000 meters long. Individuals and families were given an area of one square meter to paint designs about the nature. A few hours later, almost 2500 meters were painted, but still far behind the world longest painting (about 3500 meters made by an art school in Romania). After the hot hours of the day, the work was taken again about 16 o'clock and continued till part of night when 4000 meters were painted. This operation was sponsored and managed by Vezarate Maskan and supervised by Guiness Records registration office. More than 200 young people mostly girls from the local universities helped the organisation.

The world's largest citadel in Bam is now being carefully restored. The Bam monument, aging more than 2500 years which was mostly ruined by a 6.6° earthquake on December 26th, 2003. Restoration works are being held in scenic workshops. Looking from the top of the metalic structure installed for the technicians, one observes some Hollywoodian scene where several hundred workers move and work finely to restore this beloved monument which has recently been registered as part of world protected sites.
