Began his professional life playing guitar in a variety of bands in his native country, before moving to the USA to study film scoring and guitar performance at the Berklee College of Music. Became a member of the popular Massachusetts band My Favourite Relative while still studying, and when they were nominated for seven Boston Music Awards in 1999, Los Angeles took notice. Djawadi moved to California to join Media Ventures in 2000, and began work immediately assisting composer Jeff Rona on his score for 'Exit Wounds', and then working with German composer Klaus Badelt on projects such as 'The Time Machine', 'K:19: The Widowmaker', 'Equilibrium', 'The Recruit', 'Ned Kelly' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean'. Took the lead on his first solo scores in 2004, writing music for 'Thunderbirds' and taking over from composer Terence Blanchard on 'Blade Trinity'. More recently he has composted the music score of 'Ask the Dust', 'Open Season', and Mr. Brooks the new film produced by Iranian American Compatriot Sam Nazerian starring Kevin Costner, Demi Moore and William Hurt. Along with Paul Westerberg, Djawadi won an award for his contribution to the score of 'Open Season' at the 22nd Annual ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards. For 'Prison Break' Djawadi received an Emmy nomination for 'Outstanding Main Title Theme Music' in 2006. The theme music of Prison Break was remixed by Ferry Corsten and released as 'Prison Break Theme (Ferry Corsten's Breakout Mix)'.
