To Each His Own Cinema
For the 60th Annual of the International Cannes Film Festival all the living previous Laureates of the Palme D'Or were asked to do a 3 minutes film essay on the theme 'To Each His Own Cinema' amongst whome were such prestigious directors as Roman Polanski, Abbas Kiarostami, Aki Kaurismaki and Billie August . The film made by Abbas Kiarostami chose to illustrate the reaction of some of Iran's greatest female film Stars while they were watching the final tragic scene from Italian Oscar Nominee Franco Zeffirelli for his classic Romeo and Juliet (1968) based on William Shakespeare's drama. It was one of the film's that although shot in a classic way also became one of the emblematic films of the early Hippie Flower Power Generation of the late 60's and early 70's.

Kiarsotami's treatment of the subject is done with great delicacy and love for these beautiful actress' of Iranian Cinema both young and old. It is a dual humanistic tribute to the Love of World Cinema.
