One of the most fun places to visit when in Iran is the famous Ajil Forooshi. Offering all kinds of dry, fresh, roasted and packaged nuts and sweets, the Ajil Forooshi is a regular place to stop for household snacks. The particular one I visited just off of Jordan Street had a pistachio roasting spot in the back, where the pistachio roaster happily demonstrated how he dipped the big, Iranian pistachios into lime juice and roasted them in circular motion. Fresh out of the pistachio oven, the pistachios were delicious and warm.

Other eye-catching goodies include various types of melon seeds (tokhmeh), saffron, walnuts, pine nuts, peeled pistachios, various dried sweets (shirini) and more.
