Wimbeldon is on and my favorite tennis star is back. Aravane Rezai has once again had a great start to this annual British tennis match played on grass. In the first qualifying rounds, Aravane beat Shenay Perry of the United States in two straight set with a finals score of 6-2, 7-6(4). This win, played out on Court 19, was her first at a Grand Slam tournament since last year's U.S. Open, where she reached the fourth round.
In the second round of the ladies’ single tennis match, the Iranian-French tennis player went up against Italy’s Francesca Schiavone, ranked 29th in the world. Aravane won the match 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
The ambitious Aravane has set her eyes on winning 20 major titles in five years, a streak of victory that has never been matched before. While some have criticized her for her weight, others think her powerful shots are unmatchable in tennis today. It seems to me that she is very dedicated and has the right mental concoction to help her through the tough challenges ahead.
Allez Aravane!
