One of the most prominent and loved Iranian voices, Mahasti, has passed away on June 25th, 2007 in her home in Santa Rosa, California. Mahasti had been battling with colon cancer for four years and had hoped the news of her illness would raise cancer awareness to the Iranian community. She was in her last days as strong and hopeful as she had been all her life.
We celebrate her with the following photo gallery.
Mahasti was born Khadijeh Dadehbala in 1946 and was the younger sister of Hayedeh. She was a beautiful woman with long ravishing hair and exceptional eyes. Her voice tantalized an entire generation of Iranians and she was touted as one of Iran’s best voices, next to other famed legends like Googoosh, and Homeira.
Her hit song 'Sepideh Dam' was followed by many other albums and records.
