Here is a selection of poems about LIFE as composed by various poets:
1. LIFE FLIES
By Omar Khayyam (Famous Iranian Poet)
Translated in English: Edward FitzGerald
Oh, come with old Khayyam, and leave the Wise To talk; one thing is certain, that Life flies; One thing is certain, and the Rest is Lies; The Flower that once has blown for ever dies.
2. LIFE IS A TALE
By William Shakespeare (Famous British Poet)
From Macbeth (1606)
Out, out, brief candle! Life is but a walking shadow,
A poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage And then is heard no more.
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury signifying nothing. From Macbeth (1606)
3. LIFE IS ONE WAY ROAD
By Carrence Verona (Philippines)
|
Life is a game of basketball You get free-throws every now and then, Fouls, even injuries And no matter what happens The game will continue If you missed a shot Its an opportunity lost But loosing is not the end of the game Its a new game to play.
Sometimes you need to get hurt For you To be strong You need to loose, To gain much better You need to fall, To rise again.
Life is one way road You can never go back All you can do is Look over your shoulder And see how far you have gone?
4. LIFE IS A CHAIN
By Carmen Colombo (Canada)
When you realize that you are a part of this big beautiful picture of life,
This golden chain of life, you awaken your soul’s wisdom.
Once we know how vitally important each of us is in the chain of life,
We have a duty to be strong not only for ourselves, but for all.
5. CHAIN OF LIFE
Inspired by the above verses, and particularly by the well written piece of Carmen Colombo, this author composed a Persian Poetry on the Chain of Life.
