Recently a reader who had visited Iran wrote in to ask what the Toot (or Tut) fruit was and where they could get some outside of Iran. A quick online search for the infamous mulberry fruit and I cam across Kaveh Bazargan's photography site, detailing his Toot picking trip with his father and some friends.
The mulberry fruit comes in various shapes and sizes. These photos show the most typical green mulberry fruit when it has just become ripe and soft on the tree. The secret to picking the toot is to simply place a cloth underneath the tree and then just shake it. The freshly picked fruit can be enjoyed with all kinds of food such as Noon Paneer, bread and tea. The dried form of the fruit can be found in nut shops and nut mixtures around the country.
