I am pleased to announce that for the first time in history, the City of Irvine will be putting up 50 banners on Culver Drive, a major throughway, between 5 and 405 freeways from March 16 until April 2.
This success was the result of the hard work of selfless Iranian Americans in Orange County. From our own Mariam Khosravani, an Irvine City Commissioner and a community leader who convinced the City leaders, to the Network of Iranian American Professionals of Orange County (NIPOC) who applied for permits and legal work, and our community artist Mr. Saeed Danousian who designed the banners. Funding was provided by the newly formed PARSA Community Foundation, for the production of the banners.
One of the banners gives a glimpse of Haft Seen, the traditional Norooz display, while the other cites ancient Persian values of Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds. 'Irvine is acknowledging the contributions of Iranian Americans by honoring our traditions and encouraging the larger community to partake in Norooz's festive spirit. We hope Irvine paves the way for many more cities to embrace and enjoy Norooz.' Says Noosheen Hashemi, Chairman of PARSA Community Foundation.
This project would not have been possible without the timely financial help of PARSA. I ask all of you to contribute to PARSA and follow up with an email to info@parsacf.org indicating that your contribution is designated to this cause.
Thanks and Happy Norooz!
