HERvoices: In Iran has been initiated by HERvoices, Inc. in a time when the U.S. government's language about, and public attention to, Iran has intensified. HERvoices is concerned that the American public, and the international public generally, is hearing and reading, more than usual, about Iran -- however, most predominantly from the U.S. Government's and U.S. media's perspective. The public, therefore, is being deprived of easy access to the ideas about and on Iran, from the perspectives of those most knowledgeable: the Iranians in Iran, themselves. HERvoices has launched this project in order to do its part in fostering an inclusive global environment, in which tolerance can be nurtured through cross-cultural communication and understanding.
HERvoices' goal for HERvoices: In Iran is to collect and share with the public a diverse selection of personal testimonies offered by Iranian women and girls living in Iran. The content and theme of HERvoices: In Iran can only be determined once all of the testimonies completed for this project are collected, and then read through very carefully. At that point, it is the responsibility of HERvoices to select testimonies that represent the diverse views and ideas expressed in the interviews. These will then be combined into a creative presentation that will be shared with the public. The first audiences will be students in the U.S.

HERvoices anticipates that after watching and participating in this program, the audiences of HERvoices: In Iran will feel as though they have actually met the women profiled in the program. Audiences will leave the presentation knowing diverse viewpoints of real people living in Iran, on subjects ranging from childhood memories and biggest dreams, to peace and war, to what the streets in Tehran sound and look like... to how it feels to live in Iran at this time.
