Persian Arts Festival (PAF) is an arts and cultural organization whose mission is to present events that bring the magnificence and diversity of Persian culture to the community at large. Our goal is to support and showcase emerging and established artists, the voices and visionaries of today, while at the same time honoring the rich literary and artistic tradition from which contemporary Persian culture draws so much of its energy. To accomplish this goal, PAF produces a series of events that incorporate, but are not limited to, fine art, music, film, comedy, educational workshops, panel discussions and family-focused activities celebrating Persian traditions and holidays, including one of the most defining aspects of the culture, cuisine.
We are seeking emerging and established fine artists to share their voice and perspective as a Persian artist. Please see more information and submission guidelines below.

Theme Description: Being of Persian descent and living in the United States inevitably can have tremendous impact on the evolution of ones internal lens, and inevitably, ones global perspective. A unique ability is harvested, like many Americans of immigrant heritage, to use the geographical distance from their country (s) of origin to reflect on the effect of Middle Eastern descent to one’s inner character and/or the international community. In essence, we are asking for artists to submit work that offers insight to experiences that have shaped their views and how Persian lineage has colored their lives.
Submission Guidelines:
Send work samples via email if possible and all other submissions, such as film, music & portfolios to the address below. Please note that material submitted will not be returned.

5-10 images of work related to show theme (digital images should be in jpg format, no more than 300dpi and no more than 2MB)

List of work submitted along with description (i.e. title, dimensions, medium, date)

Biography, updated resume and short artist’s statement

List of past shows (if applicable)

Please label all entries clearly with name and title of entry
Entry Fee:
The non-refundable fee is $25 for up to 10 samples of work. An additional charge of $10 will be charge per extra piece (over 10 pieces). Check or money orders only, no cash!
Judging & Notification:
Judging and notification will take place by June 30, 2007. The jury will be comprised of artists in the fine arts, media and textile designers in the New York metropolitan area.
Evaluative Criteria:
ALL SUBMISSIONS AND FEES MUST BE RECEIVED BY APRIL 2, 2007
