Recording Piece With Prague Radio Philharmonic

On February 8, 2007 Sam Daghighian, a 34 year old Iranian
Composer who grew up in Los Angeles, CA, was announced as one of the winners of
ERM Media’s annual Composition Competition, and will be recording his winning
composition “Sinfonia” with the legendary Prague Radio Philharmonic Orchestra,
on March 4 & 5, 2007.
Sam Daghighian, is a student of Iranian Musical Icon,
Shardad Rohani. After completing his studies in Piano and Composition at
California State University Northridge, Sam composed and performed the Original
Musical Score for “Babak and Friends” starring Shohreh Agdashloo and Parviz
Sayyad, which brought the story of Nowrooz (Iranian New Year) to youths
worldwide. Sam’s blend of Persian and Classical score has been recognized
by several animation awards and is currently in the Smithsonian Museum, for its
cultural significance. He has also composed for piano, orchestra, and
various chamber ensembles.
Sam competed against 350 international composers of all
ages and his piece entitled, “Sinfonia” was selected as one of 10 to be
recorded and released on CD by the 75 member, 120 year old, world class
ensemble, which will be led by Robert Ian Winstin, Conductor. Maestro
Winstin is a world class international conductor and composer who has performed
in La Scala and Carnegie Hall. Sam will be traveling to Prague to eversee
the rehearsals and recording sessions on March 4th and 5th of 2007. The
CD recording will be released worldwide within the year.

This opportunity, for a young member of the Iranian
Artistic Community in Los Angeles, to be recognized and heard internationally
is an important and exiting event.
In summary, Sam Daghighian has been an active member of
the Iranian musical community as composer, teacher, and student and is so proud
to represent the community of young Iranian Composers and Artists in this
