Six Degrees Records Releases Elysium Remixes, A Digital Only Remix Release of Azam Ali’s Critically Acclaimed Elysium For The Brave “Ali's voice, one of the most evocative in modern music, seems to rise from the collective unconscious, simultaneously new and ancient.' – Billboard
Ali’s alluring, exotic voice can be heard on her second solo album, “Elysium for the Brave,” a seamless mix of Eastern and ambient styles...It’s a voice that has been utilized in film projects as diverse as “The Matrix Revolutions,” ”Paparazzi” and “Dawn of the Dead”; the miniseries “Children of Dune” and “The Path to 9/11”; and the TV series “Alias,” ”Witchblade,” “Prison Break” and “The Agency.” - Hollywood Reporter
“— a masterwork, a stunningly whole, utterly fulfilling creation that forces a reconsideration not only of her own capabilities but of the inherent possibilities of the world fusion genre.” - All Music Guide
In a career which spans over a decade and includes eight collaborative albums and solo albums, Azam Ali has confirmed her place as one of the most prolific, versatile, and gifted singers on the world music stage today. Known for her vocal work with Niyaz and Vas, Azam's second solo album, Elysium for the Brave signaled a new turn in her musical evolution bringing together musicians from varied musical backgrounds performing in diverse permutations.
On the Elysium Remixes Azam’s haunting music is re-transformed by an incredible cast of producers which includes Bauhaus and Love & Rockets founder, David J (in collaboration with DJ K), Global Fusioneers Banco de Gaia, Transglobal Underground, Bombay Dub Orchestra, ZAMAN 8, Jef Stott and Electronic Dance artists, Bentley & Smitty, Holmes Ives, 310 and Luxurious.
This release, which will be available as a digital only E.P. (in two parts), comes hot on the heels of Azam’s latest film work on “300,” directed by Zach Synder (Dawn of the Dead). The movie is based on Frank Miller’s (Sin City) acclaimed graphic novel retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. Ali worked with music composer Tyler Bates and contributed solo features, vocalization, and textural vocals throughout the film, which is due out March 9, 2007.
